SKIN TONERS
If you're looking to take your skincare routine to the next level, adding a natural toner may be just what you need. Toners are a versatile and beneficial addition to any skincare routine, and they offer a wide range of benefits for your skin. Here are some of the advantages of using a toner in your skincare routine:
-
Balances skin pH: Toners help to balance the pH of your skin, which can become unbalanced after cleansing with soap or other skincare products. An unbalanced pH can lead to dryness, irritation, and breakouts, so using a toner can help to restore your skin's natural balance.
-
Cleanses and tones: Toners are designed to remove any remaining traces of dirt, oil, or makeup that may be left on your skin after cleansing. This helps to keep your skin clean and free of impurities, which can help to prevent breakouts and other skin issues.
-
Hydrates and moisturizes: Many toners contain ingredients that help to hydrate and moisturize the skin. This can be especially beneficial for those with dry or sensitive skin, as it can help to soothe and nourish the skin.
-
Prepares skin for other skincare products: Using a toner before applying other skincare products can help to prepare your skin for maximum absorption. This can help to improve the effectiveness of other skincare products in your routine.
-
Provides anti-aging benefits: Toners often contain antioxidants and other anti-aging ingredients that can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.
Overall, incorporating a toner into your skincare routine can offer a wide range of benefits for your skin. Whether you're looking to balance your skin's pH, hydrate and moisturize your skin, or prepare your skin for other skincare products, a toner can be an excellent addition to your skincare routine.
Purpose
Today toners are more gentle, usually water based and contain lots of natural and beneficial ingredients that will make your skin care journey a little more worth while. You see the skin works like a sponge, once wet it will allow power products like serums to sink into the skin easier and be more effective, and sometimes water is simply not enough to create that.
Types
Just like cleansers, there are different types of variants of toners. As mentioned before you will come across alcohol based toners, and also water based ones. I personally would not recommend alcohol based toners as toners have come a long way and can be specific for certain facial concerns like oiliness.
Alcohol based toners are great for cleansing really grime ridden areas like in between toes, behind ears or cleansing cuts and grazes.
Frequency
Just like a cleanser and moisturiser, toners should really be a key player in your skincare routine. We recommend using toners after every cleanse, morning and night. If you read my Cleansing Ritual Blog you will know that at times I will cleanse my skin with just a toner and cotton pad in the mornings to refresh my skin whilst also preparing it for the day.
